Aladin Abbas is a singer, oud and tabla player who was born in Egypt. He started his musical career at the age of four by singing Arabic and Egyptian songs for different singers such as Om Kalthom and Abd El Halim Hafiz and Sufi singers. Aladin has been performing folk, traditional and classical Egyptian/Arabic music ever since, performing both as a solo player and with many well known bands and musicians in Egypt and Europe. His band Aladin Dreams started to perform already in early 90's, and it has been including musicians from different countries and backgrounds. This multicultural band aims to create a bridge between east and west - using the roots of oriental and Egyptian music and coloring it with modern western elements to build a new way of playing oriental music. Aladin's compositions of Arabic rhythms have been a successful way to fit the taste of Arabic and Western audience, and its musical approach is almost magical...

Members of the band:

Aladin Abbas (oud, vocal, percussion)

Trygve Tambs-Lyche (drums)

Jørn Erik Ahlsen (Electric and acoustic guitar)

Konono No. 1 (Congo)
(Available for Northern and Eastern Europe)

Konono No. 1 combine the spirit of traditional African music with the junk instrument concept and the progressive electronic aspect of modern times. The group's full name is L'Orchestre Folklorique T.P. Konono No. 1 de Mingiedi, T.P. being translated as "all powerful." It is also a tribute to the band of the legendary Congolese musician Franco, which was called T.P.O.K. Jazz.

The band was founded by Mawangu Mingiedi, a member of the Zombo or Bazombo ethnic group, whose homeland is located near the Congo border with Angola. Mingiedi was born in Angola in 1933 and moved to Kinshasa in the former Zaire in 1949, and was a longtime taxi and truck driver trying to support a large family of children. He started the band as Orchestre Tout Puissant Likembe Konono No. 1 in the mid- to late '70s. Originally they adapted Zombo ritual music played by an ensemble of horns made from elephant tusks.

But they switched their signature instruments to the likembe, also called the mbira, kalimba, or sanza, commonly known as the metal reed thumb piano. Their first recording was on the compilation Zaire: Musiques Urbaines a Kinshasa. The first album by Konono No. 1 was recorded and produced by Vincent Kenis, who also worked with Zap Mama, Taraf de Haïdouks, and Koçani Orkestar.

Joel Sebunjo & Sundiata (Uganda)

Joel Sebunjo & Sundiata is a perfect collaboration between Ugandan young talented musicians inspired by diverse world music traditions. One of the most sought after, world music acts in Uganda, the repertoire ranges from own compositions to Ganda folk songs supplemented with the rhythmically & melodically rocking mandingo repertory. Joel Sebunjo & Sundiata testifies the road to Pan African understanding of culture & music.

Though a master of his  native endongo (bowlyre), Joel Sebunjo is also an inspired exponent of the kora who plays this west African harp as if, he were Malian or Gambian. He is truly an ambassador of jali in East Africa, hence regarded by many as the eastern griot.
Over the years, Joel Sebunjo has shared the stage with world music greats such as Miriam Makeba, Oliver Mtukudzi, Salif Keita, Didier Awadi, Etran Finatawa, Ismael Lo, cheb Khaled, El Hadji, Baba Maal and many more.

Jaakko Laitinen & Väärä Raha (Finland)

Jaakko Laitinen & Väärä Raha (false money) draws its inspiration from the music of the Balkan gypsies and the old Finnish tango kings. The band is based in Helsinki, but all the musicians come from Finnish Lapland, of which unique conditions give the music its thirsty and fiery character. The lyrics deal with the eternal subjects of loving, leaving, coming and going.
The band was formed only one and a half year ago but it has since stormed Helsinki and Finland with numerous passionate gigs. On autumn 2009 Jaakko Laitinen & Väärä Raha spent recording their debut album which came out in May 2010.  Come to cry, laugh, dance and love with Jaakko Latinen & Väärä Raha!

Pharaoh Pirttikangas (Finland)

Pekka Pirttikangas: "I've performed as Pharaoh Pirttikangas since the beginning of this year, playing solo gigs and gigs with different line-ups. This here line-up seems to be the most interesting so far. I'm also known from Cosmo Jones Beat Machine & Astro Can Caravan, Pentti from Deep Turtle & Cosmo Jones, Kusti from Tampo & Buster Keaton Orkesteri, Simo from Tampo & Black Motor and Konsta is young rising talent and marvelous folk violinist who also masters old traditional finnish stringed instrument called jouhikko.

Our music is melting pot of different influences; there´s raw gospelblues from my behalf, oldtime finnish dancemusic feel from Konsta, Kusti's and Simo's original sound which blends Jamaican sounds, jazz and jenkka, and then there's Pentti with his junk percussion and noise instruments.
This some sort of a "supergroup" contains some of the most adventurous finnish musicians of today and they're not into it for fame and money, but to create beautiful, raw and touching music together."

Cosmo Jones Beat Machine (Finland)

After hearing the musical impact of finnish pioneers Chop Suey hit the rocks of Savo, Finland, there was no turning back. Pekka Pirttikangas enjoyed sitting and listening at the practice place. Soon Pekka and Paul Staufenbiel started developing "a new band with a raw blues-spirited sound". Marko Lukkarinen, Torsti Tuovinen and JP Hautalampi joined soon. In 1999 Bad Vugum released the debut album "My Style Is Eurostyle“.
Denmark's Bad Afro records released the 7" EP "Interplanetary Cosmobile", which sold out quickly. In 2002 the band played in Germany, Holland, Belgium, Denmark and Estonia. Hot Igloo records released the scorching "Negrospiritualized" album to reap praising reviews in 2003. By 2004 JP left, and soon Paul left too. From the close galaxy of Astro Can Caravan came the musical experimentalists Arvi Hasu, Otto Eskelinen and Niko Votkin to continue the trip. In 2005 the moody album "No Matter How You Pray" came out via Zerga and Autotehtaat joining forces.
More gigs came alongside the "NYC Fire / Jitterbug Swing" 7" on Sporting Life Records. Arvi left in late 2005 and Pentti started on bass after 2 seconds considering. Summer 2008 saw the release of "Belzeboogie" and more kilometers on the road. Time came for Niko to hand the drumsticks back to JP and since then the personnel has been:

Pekka Pirttikangas - vox, slide guitar
Marko Lukkarinen - backing vox, slide guitar
Torsti Tuovinen - junk percussion
JP Hautalampi- drums
Otto Eskelinen - keys, sax, bass clarinet, sampler, noises
Pentti Dassum - bass, slide guitar, noises
